May 6 and 7
Tauranga Yoga Centre
(Elizabeth Street)
The Art of Pranayama
These two classes will focus on the art of practice introducing the heart of living the yogic state. A primary focus will be Pranayama. The classes will include instruction in yoga poses for pranayama (breathing work), and meditation in supported yoga poses. This is a chance to explore quietening and observing the mind and to use breath work to produce energized calm. In such work and associated calm mental process, we can see our attachments and mental tendencies more clearly. When practiced regularly we can emerge with a renewed sense of self and direction in life.
Paul is an Intermediate certificated Iyengar Yoga teacher currently living in Rotorua. He teaches silent retreats in several locations and runs a full a time yoga school with regular classes of asana, pranayama and meditation. Paul commenced mediation training in 1975 and Iyengar Yoga in 1980. Paul has practiced pranayama daily since 1984 with guidance from the Iyengar family and other senor Iyengar Yoga teachers
Paul teaches to assist people find through yoga that aspect of Self that will guide them through anything. We all want inner composure and contentment in the face of adversities, the trick is to be able to create this. A key to this is correct regular pranayama and mindfulness. Correct pranayama requires correct posture work for support.
This will be a valuable experience for committed Yoga students wanting to embrace Pranayama and posture practice that support inner work and deep meditation experience.
