I took my first yoga class here at the yoga centre in 1994 and practiced different styles of yoga regularly up until I was first introduced to Ashtanga Yoga in 2005. It was at a Mysore style workshop in Gisborne with Peter Sanson.
My first Ashtanga yoga class left me feeling a bit defeated and curious at the same time. Practicing Ashtanga Mysore style yoga required an inner focus and precision I'd never experienced before and although it involved the body it wasn't purely physical. I love to teach people how to live with greater awareness of themselves and I see it as a privilege to introduce any student to this path.
