Yoga Styles
-
Vinyasa flow: is characterised by linking postures together so that you move seamlessly from one to another, using the breath. Its stimulating and can be challenging
-
Restorative: is a restful practice that encourages you to slow down and open your body through passive stretching and mindful breathing. These classes may include a guided meditation called Nidra
-
Iyengar: is a style with an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the postures. The practice has been carefully structured in a way to allow a beginner to progress surely and safely through asana and it uses many props to enable students to find stability and balance in poses.
-
Yin: Yin asana (poses) are held for longer periods and generally practiced as seated or reclining poses. The longer hold allows us time to really feel the sensations created by the pose, and when we combine these 'feelings' with conscious breath, deep release of connective tissue can occur. This is a quiet contemplative practice which can help still the 'mind chatter'
-
Pink/restorative: A class for women who have had a cancer diagnosis. In this class there is a focus on gentle poses, combined with breath awareness to help regenerate the physical body and to assist with stress/anxiety and fatigue reduction.
